This show made me think of every time a parent has to humour their young child by watching them play with toys and pretending
to bring them to life in some way; clapping away whilst all the time wondering how long it will last. Thankfully, once Peppa Pig
comes along, kids tend to grow out of it.
Unfortunately, it seems that one child slipped through the net, and his name is Paul Vickers. For whilst everyone else progressed
to cartoons, games consoles and then members of the opposite sex, Paul clearly carried on performing in front of his parents
through infancy, childhood, teenage years and adolescence, all the time being applauded for his efforts.
Then for some reason he was allowed to take this performance to Edinburgh, and sadly I was duped into buying a ticket to watch.
Thankfully for my reviewing partner his steak failed to arrive in time and he missed the show.
Well, I say missed…
Twonkey's Mumbo Jumbo Hotel plays daily (not 16th or 23rd) until 28th August
